If you haven't already included substance abuse as part of your wider Health & Safety strategy, Randox can provide consultancy services to help you develop an effective policy. We can also advise you what to test for and can also review existing policies to ensure they comply with legislation and cover all the necessary angles.
The success of any policy will depend on how well it is communicated. Randox can put in place a comprehensive training plan to educate both employers and employees in the new policy and what it means for them. Employers and Managers must know how to implement the system and employees will be less resistant if the new policy is open and well communicated. Indeed, it is a legal requirement to update employees on any workplace policy change.
Randox can visit your organisation to collect samples at required times. In the case of Random and For Cause testing this collection service is available on a 24/7 basis. Alternatively, we can train members of your staff to collect samples, should you prefer.
The samples are transferred to Randox Testing Services in Crumlin for analysis. We follow strict Chain of Custody procedures in order to protect the integrity and confidentiality of your employee samples.
A negative result requires no further testing
A positive result must be verified by confirmatory testing
The presumptive positive sample is sent for Confirmatory Analysis by LC-MS
A positive result is reviewed by our Medical Review Officer (MRO) who will consider the positive result in the light of the employee's medical background
All results are returned to your organisation in report format. The results should be processed in the manner specified in your substance abuse policy.
